Cultural Encounters in the New World

The contributions to this volume focus on the complex question of cultural encounters in the New World from different perspectives. German and American scholars from the fields of literary and cultural studies, cultural anthropology, linguistics, and history discuss various aspect of cultural contact, conflict, and exchange. The articles deal with transatlantic, intra- and inter-American cultural encounters from the sixteenth century to the present.
